What: Public Transportation Hub Meeting (#1 of 4)
When: October 1, 2009, 7:00-9:00 PM

The Upper Valley TMA and the Upper Valley-Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission invite the public to discuss building a public transportation hub in the Upper Valley. Known as an Intermodal Facility, the site will link multiple bus lines, feature a park-and-ride lot, and hopefully make public transit access easier for cyclists and pedestrians. This is the first of four meetings and we will lay out the public participation process and answer initial questions about the facility. Future meetings will discuss site selection.

Please visit our wordpress page, www.uvtransit.com, and provide feedback on the project.

Hi! If you need any help with this initiative, please let me know. I have never had a drivers licence (having grown up in Chicago and worked in Manhattan and D.C. most of my life) and intend to never get one. I believe if we cut down on the amount of driving we do, we'd make significant progress towards solving the US's largest problems, global warming and obesity. At any rate, I'm passionate about this issue and while Hanover is fairly pedistrian/biker friendly, the upper valley as a whole is not and there is much room for improvement. We should aim to prove Bill Bryson wrong when he says (in his book, "A Walk in the Woods") "Hanover is a lovely town for walking, but no one ever does.").

I am a resident of Hanover. I put my items in the container and put the container at the street for pick-up. This happens every other week.
My question is;
What is the process that my items go through?
Where do they go?
Who handles them?
Ultimately what is the footprint of those recyclables?
What is it at a local level? State level and international level?

What is the volume of material being shipped overseas from the Northeast?
How do the larger cities recycling impact the small regions like Hanover?
I am seeking education to the greater process of what I belief to be an important global situation!
Thank you for the work you are doing and addressing my questions.
